Longtime resident to focus on affordability and independent leadership in February 10th Special Election

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Julie Robben Lineberry, a 45-year real estate professional and longtime community volunteer, today announced her candidacy for Virginia State Senate District 39 in the February 10, 2026 Special Election.

Lineberry, a Republican, will face Democratic Delegate Elizabeth Bennett-Parker in the race to succeed former Senator Adam Ebbin, who resigned after being elected to the Alexandria City Council.

“I’ve spent my entire career helping families find homes they can afford in the communities they love,” said Linesberry. “I’ve watched housing costs spiral out of control while Richmond politicians make promises and never deliver. With Democrats now controlling every lever of power in state government, someone needs to draw the line. I’m running to be that independent voice for District 39.”

District 39 includes all of Alexandria, along with portions of Arlington and Fairfax counties.

Lineberry has deep roots in the community she seeks to represent. In addition to her four-decade career helping families buy and sell homes across Alexandria, Arlington, Falls Church, and Fairfax, she has served for more than ten years on the Alexandria Electoral Board, including terms as Chair and Secretary. She has been involved with the Girl Scouts for more than fifty years at the local, regional, and national levels, and was honored by the Alexandria Commission on Women with the Marguerite Payez Award for Outstanding Community Service.

She has also served as President of the Inova Alexandria Hospital TWIG Auxiliary and remains active in ministries at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

“I’m not a career politician looking for my next promotion,” Lineberry continued. “I’m a neighbor who has spent her life serving this community. I’ll bring that same commitment to Richmond—fighting for affordability, demanding accountability, and putting District 39 families ahead of partisan politics.”

Lineberry’s campaign will focus on two central themes: tackling the region’s affordability crisis and providing an independent check on unified Democratic control in Richmond. Following the November 2025 elections, Democrats hold the governorship, both chambers of the General Assembly, and all three statewide offices.

“One-party rule with no accountability isn’t good for anyone,” said Lineberry. “Families here deserve a Senator who will ask tough questions and fight for results—not just go along with the party line.”

The special election will be held on February 10, 2026. Early voting begins January 31. The voter registration deadline is January 23.
